Open Palms (Psalms and Prayers)

Tiny digits grip tight the index finger
Life anew – soft, smooth, buoyant, resilient
Blessings amongst the countless, each in its moment
To snatch the fleeting, capture and embrace…..forever
Yet hold with open palms

To expand the mind, examine each thought, take captive the truth
Still a defiant soul yearning for peace
Nails pierce the open palms

Needful digits clutch tight His presence
Weathered hide, gnarled and worn
Life receding as it began, dependent on Him
Arms spread wide in welcome…..endless grace
Gathered with open palms

To seize this friendship, to grasp such gifts of munificence
Yet bow the spine with flex of knee
To pray with open palms

John 19:18                     “where they crucified Him…..”

Matthew 19:14-15         “But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”  And He laid His hands on them and departed from there."
